Festergut defeated!

Aegis Hestia defeats Festergut

Aegis Hestia defeats Festergut

After a rather slow start at the beginning of the night due to server lag, Aegis Hestia picked up speed as it continued through the Lower Spire. Despite the rumors that Saurfang’s blood rage gain had increased, the guild defeated him with a one-shot, once again earning the I’ve Gone and Made a Mess achievement. Encouraged by our high DPS for the night, we decided to pay another visit to Festergut to see if we’d have a better chance of beating the enrage timer. After wiping with less than 800k health left to go, we came back and downed him with several seconds to spare. Great work, everyone!

Plagueworks cleared (10-man)

Aegis Hestia defeats Professor Putricide in 10-player mode.

Continuing on our previous successes on 10-player mode, Aegis Hestia downed the two abominations in the Plagueworks before turning to work on the final boss of the wing, Professor Putricide. It took us several tries to perfect our strategy for the first two phases, but after pushing him into the final phase, it only took two tries until we stood over his not-so-”un”-dead corpse. Congratulations on being the seventh Alliance guild to clear the Plagueworks on 10-player, and good luck on the next wings!

Saurfang defeated

Aegis Hestia defeats Deathbringer Saurfang

Aegis Hestia defeats Deathbringer Saurfang

After cruising through the first three bosses in Icecrown Citadel (made even easier by the nerf to Lady Deathwhisper), Aegis Hestia turned its attention to Deathbringer Saurfang. It took us a while to tweak our strategy to work for our particular raid composition, but in the end, the guild walked away with the Storming the Citadel achievement for clearing the first wing. The final kill went so smoothly, we even wound up getting the I’ve Gone and Made a Mess achievement. Great job everyone and good luck in the next wing!

Progress in Icecrown Citadel

Aegis Hestia defeats Lady Deathwhisper and successfully defends the Skybreaker

Aegis Hestia defeats Lady Deathwhisper and successfully defends the Skybreaker

After a light schedule due to the holidays, Aegis Hestia returned to Icecrown Citadel once again. Cruising past Morrowgar, we then spent some quality time with Lady Deathwhisper. We tried a couple of alternative strategies, but eventually returned to our original setup. Several tries later, we blew past her shield and switched her from undead, to dead-dead. It was truly a great effort on everyone’s part!

With only half an hour left in the raid, we pushed on to the top of the Citadel to try our hand at the gunship battle … and nailed it on the first try! We even took a shot at Deathbring Saurfang and despite hardly any instruction or explanation, were able to get him down to 30% before we wiped. We only had one day for ICC this week, but with the kind of success we had in that one night, he’s definitely going down this week as we push on through to the Plagueworks. Great job, Aegis Hestia!

Storming the Citadel

Aegis Hestia defeats Deathbringer Saurfang in 10-player mode

Aegis Hestia defeats Deathbringer Saurfang in 10-player mode

Aegis Hestia sent a small contingent into the 10-player version of Icecrown Citadel this week to gain some experience with the fights before attempting the bosses in full 25-player mode. Overall, the instance was a bit more challenging than Trial of the Grand Crusader, but the end result was the same - a full clear of all available bosses in the Lower Spire, culminating in the death of Deathbringer Saurfang and the Storming the Citadel and I’ve Gone and Made a Mess achievements.

Into the breach…

Aegis Hestia defeats Lord Marrowgar, the first boss in Icecrown Citadel

Aegis Hestia defeats Lord Marrowgar, the first boss in Icecrown Citadel

Aegis Hestia ventured into 25-man Icecrown Citadel for the first time tonight, taking the first steps on its path to defeating the Lich King. The increased difficulty was a welcome change from the “fun and games” of the Trial of the Crusader, with even a wipe on trash as a friendly “welcome to the next tier of raiding” reminder. But we were shortly facing Lord Marrowgar, the first boss of the instance. The first couple of attempts were fairly disastrous, but after that, we made steady progress and before the end of the night, we were standing over his pile of bones. Congratulations to everyone on not losing heart and pulling it all together in the end. One down, eleven more to go!

Patch 3.3 Live!

The final patch for Wrath of the Lich King has gone live today, with lots of gameplay changes and the opening of the final 5-man and raid instances in Icecrown Citadel. Be sure to check the patch notes for all the latest changes, and both Wowhead and MMO Champion have made nice compilations with further information (MMO Champion also includes a copy of the patch notes, for those having trouble with Blizzard’s servers).

Arthas, you’re going down!

A Tribute to Skill (10-man)

Aegis Hestia completes the Tribute to Skill achievement.

Aegis Hestia completes the Tribute to Skill achievement.

Aegis Hestia has been sending a small contingent of raiders into the 10-man version of the Trial of the Grand Crusader for several weeks now, and each week has gotten smoother and smoother. This week, we sailed through, downing all five bosses with only 14 wipes the entire run, earning the coveted A Tribute to Skill achievement. Great job, guys! Now to aim for five or less!

Twilight Vanquishers!

Aegis Hestia defeats Sartharion with 3 drakes.

Aegis Hestia defeats Sartharion with 3 drakes.

After one of our fastest Trial of the Crusader clears, followed by quick runs through Onyxia and the Vault of Archavon, Aegis Hestia decided to keep the momentum going by giving another shot at downing Sartharion with all three twilight drakes still alive. After nearly succeeding on our very first attempt of the night, we knew that success was well within our reach. And three attempts later, twenty five Aegis Hestia players were officially Twilight Vanquishers. Congratulations, everyone, it was a well-earned achievement!

According to GuildOx, we were the tenth Alliance guild on the server to complete this achievement, putting us as the 11th most progressed Alliance guild on the server, and one of less than 20% of all guilds worldwide to have completed this difficult feat! Not too shabby for casual-friendly guild. Great work!

Contest and Begging

contestWell, pilgrims Bounty has come and gone. As I sat here all weekend trying to think up something cool to replace the holiday banner at the top of the site with, I came up with nothing. I mocked up 10 diferent ideas and ended up not being happy with any of them. So I came up with the idea that you guys could do it for me :)  This contest is open to anyone on Scarlet Crusade, not just our guild members.  We are looking for anyone interested in graphic design, drawing, painting etc. If you think you are interested in this you can see the rules and prizes after the jump.

Along with this contest comes a short blurb where I want to beg for content. If you like to write and share information related to WoW, drop me a line in game or in a PM. I would like to see member contibutions to the website. Class Guides, Raiding Guides, News and Information - Its all good! If you are a very exceptional writer, we may even ask you to continue to provide content.  Put those skills to use and help provide entertaining content for the website!
