Glory of the Hero

Spotdot and Draezele complete Glory of the Hero
After a harrowing Oculus run involving a not-so-pretty wipe and beating the Make it Count timer by about 10 seconds, Spotdot and Draezele became the first players from Aegis Hestia to complete the Glory of the Hero achievement. Congratulations to them both on a job well done and for their brand new Red Proto-Drakes!
Cat Lady declawed

Aegis Hestia defeats Auriaya
Despite the servers being down on our first raiding day of the week, Aegis Hestia has another guild first, downing the crazy cat lady Auriaya. It took us several tries to find a method of pulling that didn’t involve battle rezing the main tank. But after proving that a holy paladin is better at pulling than a retadin, we found a strategy that worked for us, leading to a very clean kill. Congratulations to everyone on another Ulduar boss downed!
Realm First!

Aegis Hestia gets realm first achievement!
We might not be the furthest progressed on our server, but according to GuildOx, Aegis Hestia has laid claim to a realm first 10-man achievement! Unbroken is awarded for one-shotting Flame Leviathan without having repaired your vehicles after the gauntlet and on April 29th, we were apparently the first ones to on our server to succeed. As of the time of this writing, only three other Scarlet Crusade guilds have earned (or bothered with?) this achievement and less than 3% of guilds world-wide have completed it. Okay, so it might not have the prestige of the Celestial Defender, but it’s still something we can be proud of. Congrats, Aegis Hestia!
Siege of Ulduar broken!

But the night didn’t end there. Aegis Hestia continued into the Antechamber to face the big-armed titan, Kologarn. Things were looking dire when we first tried this boss since there were so many things going on at once. But the guild perservered, and on the proverbial “last attempt” of the night, downed him. An excellent job, everyone, on killing a boss on our first night of attempts. Keep it up!

Kologarn
XT-002 deconstructed

XT-002 defeated by Aegis Hestia
Another new Ulduar reset, and another boss down. This time, it was XT-002 Deconstructor’s turn. Motivated to end his annoying voice once and for all, Aegis Hestia tried a new strategy this week, which proved to be much easier overall, even netting us the Nerf Engineering and Nerf Gravity Bombs achievements. Way to go, Aegis Hestia!
Razorscale grounded

Razorscale Grounded
Aegis Hestia spent a night dodging fireballs and dealing with seemingly overwhelming numbers of Iron Dwarves in its quest to bring the Broodmother called Razorscale down. It was a frustrating night, but each attempt went smoother and smoother, until we finally were able put this menace to rest. Good job everyone!
Aegis Hestia turns three!!

On April 28, 2006, Aegis Hestia was officially created as a raiding guild. Here it is, three years later, and Aegis Hestia is still running strong! As a guild, we’ve seen the insides of Molten Core, Onyxia’s Lair, Blackwing Lair, the Ruins of Ahn’Qiraj, Zul’Gurub, Karazhan, Gruul’s Lair, Magtheridon’s Lair, Serpentshrine Cavern, Tempest Keep, Zul’Aman, Mount Hyjal, Black Temple, Naxxramas, the Eye of Eternity, Obsidian Sanctum and now Ulduar. Whew, quite the list!
We’ve lost friends over the years to that thing called “real life,” but we’ve also gained a lot of friends along the way as well. It’s amazing that after all this time, we’re still dedicated to serious raiding, all the while keeping a friendly atmosphere and a casual raiding schedule. A big congratulations goes out to everyone who’s been a part of this guild, past or present, and an even bigger thank you to each and every guild member who’s helped make this guild the great success it’s been — and will continue to be.
Heroic Emalon defeated

Aegis Hestia defeats Heroic Emalon
After a smooth Naxxramas run, Aegis Hestia gathered a couple of friends and headed into Wintergrasp to work on the newest Vault of Archavon boss, Emalon the Storm Watcher. He’s definitely a step up in difficulty compared to his younger brother, but we made steady progress each attempt as we perfected our strategy, finally downing him on the proverbial “last try” of the evening. Congratulations to everyone on your newest achievement, and to Horistin and Spotdot on the guild’s first pieces of heroic tier 8 gear. Good job, folks!
Flame Leviathan disabled

Following the success of our Malygos kill, Aegis Hestia headed into Ulduar to try our hand at the first boss, Flame Leviathan. We had a lot of fun getting used to the new vehicles’ abilities and were able to down this new boss on our second try. Congratulations to Lilithial, Malorick and Mycalco on our guild’s very first pieces of Ulduar loot, and to everyone else who participated in this really fun fight.
Malygos downed!

Alexstrasza congratulates Aegis Hestia on defeating Malygos
Rather than trying to tack our Malygos attempts onto the end of another raid as we have been doing, Aegis Hestia started this Thursday’s raid in the Eye of Eternity. We sailed through the first two phases beautifully and after a couple of wipes during phase three as we got used to the mechanics, we were able to down him with plenty of time to spare before his enrage. Great job everyone, and congratualtions to all those who won loot or were able to pick up their shiny new necklaces.
Aegis Hestia downs Emalon

Although we certainly weren’t the first on the server to down him, Aegis Hestia gathered several of those patient enough to wait for the servers to come back online and within the first Wintergrasp reset had downed the new Vault of Archavon 10-man boss, Emalon the Storm Watcher. It was a thrilling experience for everyone involved (if a pricey one in repair bills), especially as no one had read any strategies on the boss beforehand. We weren’t lucky enough to get any of the tier 8 gear that time, but it was nonetheless a great time. Congratulations to everyone who participated and we look forward to adding the heroic achievement to our accomplishments soon!
For love of reputation

Now that the Valliance Expedition counts as a “real” faction, Aegis Hestia has become one of the few (if not only) guilds to have two players with the “Exalted” title, awarded for achieving exalted reputation with 40 different factions. Congratulations to Raliah and Draezele for achieving one of the most time-consuming achievements in the game!
